Cooling Water Community Farms,  Inc.

Farming by Social Capital

About Us

Founded in 2022, Cooling Water Community Farms is a non-profit organization committed to providing local farmers with the resources, education, and support they need to supply fresh and healthy produce to food banks, co-operatives, and free meal programs. Our focus is on increasing the supply of locally farmed raised poultry produce to communities in need, while also enriching urban farming communities. CWC Farms is a registered non-profit community farm dedicated to growing fresh produce for food-insecure people.  The produce grown goes to social agencies with food access programs such as food banks, free meal programs, and food access co-operatives.

Mission statement:

Provide education, productivity resources, equipment, and manpower to urban poultry farmers supplying fresh poultry products to food banks, free meal programs, and food access co-operatives.

How We Farm by Social Capital

Service

Provide services and education to disadvantaged urban farmers focused on increasing the supply of locally farmed raised produce to their community,  local food banks, co-operatives, and free meal programs

CWC Farms offers a variety of services and education to urban farmers.

These services may include access to equipment and supplies, workshops and training sessions, and one-on-one support as we build our team of experts. Our focus is on increasing the supply of locally farmed produce, with a specific emphasis on helping farmers who may not have the resources or knowledge to do so on their own.

Partnerships

Partner with other Nonprofit organizations with projects and operations focused on supplying fresh produce to their community,  local food banks, co-operatives, and free meal programs.

CWC Farms partners with other nonprofit organizations with a similar focus on supplying fresh produce to local food banks. We work together to ensure that high-quality, local farmed produce is reaching those who need it most. Our partnerships allow us to expand our reach and make an even greater impact on fighting food insecurity.

Connection

Connect with local farmers to learn from them and share ideas.

CWC Farms believes in the power of community and learning from one another. We actively seek out opportunities to connect with local farmers, learn from them, and share our knowledge about farming. This allows us to foster a sense of community and support among local farmers.

Advocacy

Connect with state and local government services for financial support, reliable points of contact, licensing and certification services, and biosecurity education.

CWC Farms recognizes the importance of government support and resources.

We actively seek out and connect with state and local government services for financial support, reliable points of contact, and certification services and prioritize biosecurity education to ensure that our operations are safe and sustainable.

Purpose

A resource for individuals with mental and physical disabilities looking for something to do, something to do that matters to them.

CWC Farms is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We offer opportunities for individuals with mental and physical disabilities to get involved in our farm operations. Our goal is to provide a meaningful and fulfilling experience for individuals looking for something to do that makes a change.

Biosecurity, News, and Education

Urban poultry farming has become a popular hobby and source of food for many city dwellers. With the rise of this industry, it is vital to understand and implement the best practices for biosecurity. Biosecurity refers to the measures taken to prevent the spread of diseases and parasites between poultry populations.

CWC FARMS plans to mitigate the risk of a biosecurity breach by supplying poultry farmers with proper cleaning materials such as bleach,  wash basins, educational materials, and hand sanitizer. We give an overview of biosecurity best practices and assess the needs of the poultry farmer.
